Accord Housing Association has completed work on a £21.2m development of new affordable homes in Coseley.
Owned by Accord, the development off Darkhouse Lane sees a former factory site converted into 142 homes for local people.
The new homes comprise one- and two-bed apartments and two-, three- and four-bed houses for affordable rent.
The new homes have been constructed using timber frames manufactured by LoCaL Homes, Accord’s offsite manufacturing facility in Walsall.
Sara Woodall, executive director of Homes and Communities at Accord, said: “We are so pleased to have delivered these much needed, high quality, affordable homes for local people.
“The development was in the final stages when the lockdown measures were announced, however, our team worked really hard to ensure everyone was kept safe and that the new residents could continue to move in without delay.”
The multi-million-pound project is the result of partnership working between Accord and Dudley MBC and received £5.9m funding from Homes England.
Councillor Laura Taylor, cabinet member for Housing, Communities, and Residents’ welfare, said: “I’m really pleased to see this site come to fruition.
“Accord has transformed the site of the old factory by delivering 142 much-needed homes for local families, despite the impact of COVID-19.
“We are really proud our successful partnership has brought such a positive impact to the area.”
Accord chief executive Dr Chris Handy added: “The lack of affordable housing across the country is a significant challenge and this development is part of our plans to deliver an additional 2,257affordable homes within the West Midlands by 2024.
“It has been a delight in working with Dudley Council who have had a progressive and ambitious attitude to the project throughout.
“As an organisation we are committed to building new affordable homes for individuals and families across the region. We firmly believe that every person has the right to a home – a place where they can feel safe and secure.”
Work started on the Darkhouse Lane site in March 2018, and all homes are now occupied.
