In 2020, the Active Housing team embarked on a challenge to raise money for homelessness charity the White Chapel Centre.
The team hit their target by September the same year and last month donated £1,010 to the Liverpool-based charity.
White Chapel Centre works with people and households who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness. They help to provide housing and welfare rights advice and support, and where prevention is not possible, they work with individuals to help find new accommodation.
Active Housing felt that the White Chapel Centre was doing excellent work to help end homelessness in Liverpool, which is why it settled on the charity to benefit from the proceedings of the #2020in2020 challenge.
The challenge started in February last year, with the aim of promoting staff wellness through exercise and activity and to raise money for charity.
Active Housing challenged staff to complete 2020 miles – which could be completed by walking, running or swimming – before the end of 2020.
For every mile covered, Active Housing would donate 50p to the White Chapel Centre.
Before the first lockdown restrictions came into effect, the company organised a 10k walk, which resulted in staff spending their lunch times getting outside and moving instead of sitting at their desks.
The team hit the target by September 2020; and at the start of 2021, the organisation donated the money to the White Chapel Centre, which said it was delighted to receive the donation.
