Anchor has reached practical completion at its Coles House and Mill Place development in Sutton Coldfield, providing 137 homes for over-55s.
The scheme comprises 85 social rent and 52 older person’s shared ownership one- and two-bedroom apartments, along with a café, residents’ lounge, beauty salon and landscaped gardens.
Construction began in March 2024, and the first residents are due to move in shortly, the organisation says.
Alex Whittle, senior development manager for Anchor, said: “The completion of our Sutton Coldfield development marks an exciting milestone for Anchor. Our aim with this site was to provide high-quality homes for older people within a peaceful yet vibrant community, and the development has delivered exactly that.
“It also supports our ambition to provide 500 new homes each year. We look forward to welcoming our new residents and ensuring they receive the very best service as part of our commitment to providing homes where people love living in later life.”
The £35.9m scheme was delivered by Deeley Construction and is the largest value development in the contractor’s 90-year history.
Victoria Mager, director of development delivery for Anchor, said: “We are delighted to mark the completion of this important development and would like to thank Deeley Group for their professionalism, expertise and collaborative approach throughout the project.
“From the very beginning, Deeley worked closely with our team, maintaining open communication and a shared commitment to delivering a high-quality scheme that will make a lasting positive difference to residents. The strength of the partnership has been instrumental in maintaining momentum and ensuring the successful delivery of a development that both organisations can be proud of.”
Eleanor Deeley, joint managing director at Deeley Group, said: “High-quality later living homes give older people greater choice while helping to release family homes and create opportunities elsewhere in the housing market.
“The strength of our partnership with Anchor has enabled us to unlock the development and create a new community in Sutton Coldfield. It is fitting to complete such a milestone scheme for our business in our 90th year of building homes and communities across the West Midlands.”
