The south-west housebuilder is due to build 17 new affordable homes over five years (four shared ownership and 14 affordable rent) which will be managed by Legal & General Affordable Homes.
As part of its Section 106 agreement, Baker Estates is also committed to contributing £552,000 toward a new primary school in South Molton, £100,000 to help fund a medical centre in the parish, £30,000 toward highways improvements, and £218,000 to sports and recreation investment.
Baker Estates’ Development director, Graham Hutton, handed over the keys to a three-bedroom home to Ben Cane, head of Development (South West) at Legal & General Affordable Homes.
Hutton commented: “Not only is Baker Estates providing much needed, quality affordable accommodation in South Molton for local people to live in, but the overall construction project at Bee Meadow will also generate huge inward investment.
“This will include considerable work for local tradesmen, new jobs for local people, and almost £900,000 of Section 106 contributions which will benefit all members of the community.”
Hutton added: “This is our first affordable homes partnership with Legal & General, and I look forward to working with the organisation over the coming years in South Molton as the new homes are built for young people and families to enjoy for years to come.”
