The Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) has announced that Sarah Dunkerley is to step down as its director of membership and professional development at the end of the year.
Dunkerley has been a member of CIH’s executive leadership team since 2019, leading the organisation’s work on membership, events, qualifications, training and continuing professional development for housing professionals.
During her tenure she has been a prominent advocate for professionalism within the sector, overseeing the development of programmes to support individuals and organisations across housing. She will remain with CIH until Christmas to support ongoing work and ensure a smooth transition.
Gavin Smart, CIH chief executive, said: “Sarah has made a significant contribution to CIH and to the wider housing profession. Her commitment to supporting housing professionals and raising standards across the sector has had a lasting impact on our organisation and our members.
“On behalf of everyone at CIH, I want to thank Sarah for her dedication, leadership and friendship. While we are sorry to see her leave, we wish her the very best for the future.”
Dunkerley added: “It has been a privilege to serve as director of membership and professional development and to work with colleagues, members and partners who are so passionate about making a difference through housing.
“I have greatly enjoyed my time at CIH and am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together. While I am looking forward to a new chapter, I will always value my connection to CIH and the housing profession.”
A recruitment process for Dunkerley’s successor will begin in the coming weeks, with CIH set to announce further details later.
