As part of National Apprentice Week 2024, Community Housing held a successful drop-in event at their Foley Grove Head Office, Kidderminster to enable colleagues and their friends/family members to visit and learn more about apprenticeships available within the social housing sector.
There was an opportunity to speak to previous apprentices, who had already completed their educational development through Community Housing as well as to colleagues who work with current Community Housing apprentices so that future candidates would get a real idea of what would be expected of them and what they could look forward to experiencing.
Previous apprentices were on hand to give their insight into the variety of roles available within Social Housing including housing management, financial, business support, electrical, plumbing and carpentry roles.
They shared their experiences of “earning and learning” including the challenges they experienced to give a true picture of apprentices and working within the sector.
Representatives from Kidderminster College also attended the event to provide information about the variety of relevant courses they can offer, which help individuals enter and progress in the Social Housing industry.
Jan Norris, Head of People and Culture said, “We know that our own people are our best ambassadors, so we created a relaxed and informal event for colleagues with teenagers who are thinking about “what next”, to come and see the many career paths available within social housing.”
