Incommmunities’ Employment Hub team are going digital to help local job seekers hit by the pandemic get back into work.
In an entirely digital service, the housing provider has set up a team of advisors to help with searching job sites, writing CVs, confidence building, completing job applications, making the right impression in interviews, and more.
In addition, the team runs a virtual Job Club to connect with people in their homes and offer support and advice.
The team can also help job seekers gain the skills and qualifications needed to help them into work, including running free online maths and English courses.
One successful job seeker who turned to the team for help is Rashad Mahmood from Allerton, who now works for Incommunities handling the administration for the Employment Hub Team. He was supported by advisor Saima Arif.
Mahmood said: “Getting in touch with the Employment Hub team was the best move I could have made, opening the door into a job where I am supporting other job seekers.
“I am looking forward to sharing my experiences and helping other people to find work.”
Nicki Woods, Incommunities’ contract manager for the new Employment Hub, said: “We are determined to help local job seekers get back into work, and we have already helped 25 people affected by the lockdown.
“Since March, we have adapted our services to take a virtual approach and we are active on social media to help reach as many people as possible.
“At the same time our engagement work with local employers is working well in matching new job opportunities with local unemployed people.
“Our services are free and support Incommunities ambition of improving people’s opportunities by helping them become ‘job ready’ to move into work.
“If you need support then please contact us.”
The Employment Hub is part funded by the European Structural and Investment Fund and is supported by Bradford Council and Leeds City Region partners.
