Housing provider First Choice Homes Oldham (FCHO) is encouraging its customers who need support with managing the cost of living to reach out for free, confidential support.
FCHO has launched the ‘Need a hand?’ initiative to highlight the ways it can help those who live in FCHO-owned homes.
Colleagues from the housing association are on hand to help customers maximise their income through access to The Bread and Butter Thing affordable food service, advice to reduce debt, checks on benefit entitlement, and further tailored help for those in need.
Support is available to help residents to pay their rent and charges and assist job seekers with finding their next opportunity, or moving their career forward if they’re in employment.
Teams can provide advice on ways to save energy and keep bills down, too, and signpost customers to other partner organisations if needed.
FCHO has also joined forces with Oldham Council to create additional Warm Spaces across the borough.
In addition to Oldham Council’s Warm Banks, the social housing provider runs five Warm Spaces at community centres across Oldham throughout the week.
‘Need a hand?’ will be promoted on FCHO’s website, social media accounts, leaflets, posters, and local advertising.
Kelly Webb, FCHO’s director of Customer Services, said: “We know that rising costs for energy, food, and more are pushing some of our customers into financial hardship and the festive season may be tougher to manage.
“We’ve seen increased demand for our services in the past six months, and we want to do all we can to support our customers as the cost-of-living crisis continues.
“We’re here to give them a hand if they are facing financial worries, and we encourage those who need advice or practical support to get in touch, so we can help.”
