Energy and regeneration firm, Equans has handed Yorkshire Housing the keys to the first of 267 new homes in Rastrick.
The Cromwell Gardens development features a mix of tenures consisting of shared ownership, affordable rent, rent to buy, and market sale.
As part of efforts to tackle the climate crisis, and to “future proof” the homes, all properties on the development have provision to install an electric vehicle charging point in the future.
This site, which started in 2019, is scheduled to be completed in 2026. The project represents an investment of around £40m.
Steven Harrison, Yorkshire Housing’s development project manager, said: “We’re thrilled to get the keys to the first 24 of 267 new homes in Rastrick.
“Rastrick is a thriving town with a need for more affordable housing and this development significantly helps address this.
“Yorkshire Housing has a goal of delivering 8,000 new homes. and the site takes us closer to achieving this target.”
Lee Stoneystreet, regional director at Equans, added: “It is great news that residents will soon be moving into these new homes.
“In partnership with Yorkshire Housing and Calderdale Council we have built homes that are energy efficient and sustainable with enhanced insulation, efficient boilers and modern heating controls – all of which will help keep energy bills affordable and minimise carbon emissions.”
Calderdale Council’s cabinet member for climate action, active travel and housing, Councillor Scott Patient, said: “It’s great to see this milestone moment in a housing development that will bring much-needed homes for local people and families.
“This project supports the council’s priorities for reduced inequalities – by providing high-quality, affordable homes; thriving towns and places – by bringing in investment and helping people build a good life in Calderdale; and climate action – through the sustainable features of the new homes.”
