A local church in Maidstone is asking for donations for its Christmas hamper project, to bring a little festive cheer to struggling families over Christmas.
The Vine Church, based on Northumberland Road in Shepway, plays a key role in the Maidstone community, and this year is asking local people for donations of festive items which will then be given to those most in need.
The aim is to create 100 Christmas hampers including items such as mince pies, biscuits, and hot chocolate, which volunteers can then hand out to homes in the area.
Local landlord Golding Homes is supporting the project by donating Christmas treats to include in the hampers.
“We are delighted to make a donation towards The Vine’s Christmas Hamper project this year and recognise the value of this contribution to many vulnerable people and families over the festive season,” said Annemarie Roberts, director of Operations at Golding Homes.
“The Vine do some fantastic work in the area, and we know they provide a lot of valuable support to many of our customers.
“We hope these hampers will help towards bringing some joy to Maidstone residents this Christmas.”
Angie Crowe, from The Vine, said: “We are distributing 100 luxury Christmas hampers to bless vulnerable families in the local area.
“It’s an amazing privilege to bring a bit of joy to those who have really struggled over the past year.
“If you would like to get involved, we would very much appreciate any donations of Christmas goodies.”
The Christmas hampers will be distributed in December to households that are struggling.
Golding Homes is a housing association that owns and manages just under 8,000 homes in Kent.
Established in 2004, it has completed over 1,850 new properties, providing homes for over 21,000 people in nine local authority areas, invested over £150m in large scale regeneration projects, and supported residents through a £3.5m community investment programme.
