Planning approval has been given for 550 flats across six different blocks in the centre of Birmingham.
The £95m modular construction project will deliver the new homes on a four-acre site on Camp Hill, near Digbeth, where TV series Peaky Blinders was filmed.
The Digbeth scheme will be delivered by Goodstone Living, the developer’s first build-to-rent residential development.
The phased project will consist of a 26-storey block with associated mid-rises of around nine-storeys and a dozen three-storey town houses.
Goodstone Living says it is focused on reducing embodied carbon during construction by more than 30%, and that it is doing so using offsite volumetric modular construction.
It also says it is reducing operational carbon by more than 50% by installing the latest heating and enhanced building fabric technologies.
Funding for the project has been secured from a number of UK and international investors.
Construction is expected to start in early 2023.
Martin Bellinger, principal at Goodstone Living, said: “Birmingham’s BTR market is hugely competitive, which puts the onus on developers and investors to keep raising the bar of what renters can expect.
“Our Birmingham scheme is an excellent illustration of that in action, with the city’s largest private garden, low site coverage, and an unwavering focus on how we can create, foster, and enhance local communities through thoughtful design and investment.”
