Entries are now officially open for Housing Digital’s inaugural Top 30 Digital Housing Providers, an annual list in association with One Consulting that celebrates digital transformation and digital engagement within the social housing sector.
We want to hear from those organisations that have gone above and beyond to support their tenants through the application of technology, while also ensuring the longevity of the organisation itself.
The best providers will have delivered transformation by combining digital technologies as an enabler with process-driven service delivery to effect positive people and culture change through customer and employee engagement.
The way social housing operates has changed almost beyond recognition. Gone are the days of knocking on doors to collect rent and giving a repairs operative a paper ticket for the day’s jobs.
We now find ourselves in a world of high-tech commercial business with customers and tenants at its heart, and one in which compliance, governance, and viability fall under constant scrutiny.
Housing providers have been transforming for years in some way or another. Yet, rapid advancements in technology and the need to stay ahead of the curve and meet customer expectations has never been more important.
Some providers see cost efficiencies as the impetus for their digital transformation strategies, through digitised self-service facilities, streamlined processes, and agile working; others see improved customer satisfaction and a right-first-time culture as the core motivation.
In reality, all these factors and more must be considered to truly realise the full benefits of digital transformation, and these are the factors our judges will be looking out for.
The judges are:
- Andrew van Doorn, CEO, HACT
- Bethany O’Malley, Digital Manager, Chartered Institute of Housing
- Mike Brogan, CEO, Procure Plus
- Gillian Stewart, CTO, Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government
- Phil Morgan, Independent Consultant for Tenant and Resident Involvement
- Caroline Gitsham MBE, Social Housing Business Consultant for Innovation, Change, and Transformation
- Brian McIntyre, Chief Digital and Technology Officer, Homes England
Housing Digital editor Liam Turner said: “The way the social housing sector operates has over recent years has changed immeasurably, and the advent of COVID-19 has only sped up this transformation.
“We are looking for providers of all shapes and sizes who view technology as not just a necessity of the modern age, but a facility through which an organisation can improve the way it operates and ultimately the lives of tenants.”
Stephen Repton, managing director of One Consulting, added: “Digital Transformation is a complete rethink of how business operates. It’s not just about technology – it’s about ideas-driven thinking, positive people culture, and flexible business processes.
“In today’s consumer-based world and tech-dominated culture, consideration needs to be given to integrating business practice and the customer experience.”
The Top 30 Digital Housing Providers shortlist will be announced on 29 January 2021.
The final results will be revealed virtually on 8 February 2021.
