Housing association Livin has received planning permission to build a development of new homes in Sedgefield, County Durham.
The scheme, on the former Turners garage site at Salters Lane, will comprise 71 two-, three-, and four-bedroom homes in an area where there is high demand for starter and family homes available to rent at affordable levels.
The development will be delivered in partnership with Hardwick Homes Ltd and it is anticipated that homes will be available to rent from March 2021.
Andrew Kitchen, head of development at Livin, said: “This is an exciting project for us as this is our largest development project to date. We are delighted to be building new homes where we know they are needed. We expect these homes to be extremely popular.”
Jeff Pike, director at Hardwick Homes, added: “This is a sustainable site in the heart of Sedgefield, with great transport links and existing infrastructure. We are proud to be investing in the area, providing local jobs for local people while developing quality homes with Livin for the long-term benefit of the local community”.
Livin, which manages over 8,400 homes across County Durham, is delivering 146 new homes over the period 2015-21 with funding from the Homes England funding Affordable Homes Programme.
