With a mission to reduce operating costs and better support its communities, Muir Group recently partnered with Core Telecom, a telecommunications provider known for its unique “03 number” initiative, which benefits over 500 UK charities and non-profit organisations.
This collaboration is set to significantly ease Muir Group’s financial burden, allowing the organisation to channel more resources into its primary mission of providing affordable housing.
Since its establishment in 1968, Muir Group has been a leader in providing affordable housing across England and Wales, managing over 5,500 properties.
With a focus on general let properties, shared ownership (under “Homes by Muir”), and supported housing, the organisation addresses the growing need for affordable homes.
Effective yet costly telecommunication is essential for UK housing associations to provide timely updates and support to nearly 6 million residents, but these expenses limit funds available for their core mission of delivering affordable housing.
Core Telecom, with its commitment to aiding non-profits, reached out to Muir Group with an offer to host their 03 numbers for free.
Under this arrangement, Core Telecom waives all incoming call charges, allowing Muir Group to maintain communication with residents and applicants at no additional cost.
Muir Group was able to port its existing 0300 numbers to Core Telecom’s network seamlessly, ensuring continuity of service without any disruption in telecommunication traffic.
Since the partnership began over a year ago, Muir Group has already seen considerable savings, a benefit that allows them to better support their communities.
Ian Whitwell, Assistant Director at Muir Group, said: “We have made substantial savings due to Core Telecom’s kind offer to host our 03-contact number.
“The process of moving the number from our previous supplier was seamless with no disruption to service. The service and support we have received from Core Telecom has been 1st Class.”
