Ongo has handed over the keys to eight new Rent to Buy homes on Lancaster Road, Scunthorpe, with eight more in the pipeline.
Altogether the new development, which has taken the place of the Ashby Star pub, comprises a mix of 16 two- and three-bed properties.
According to Ongo, all homes have been carefully thought out, with upgraded finishes such as private turfed garden, off-road parking, electric vehicle charging points, and spacious living areas.
Georgie McGuire, development project manager at Ongo, said: “Rent to Buy is something we first introduced to the area this year and it has gone down an absolute storm.
“We understand just how difficult it can be, especially in current circumstances, to get a deposit saved, so we’re really proud to offer this product and help people to own their own home.
“They bring a fresh new look to the area with a modern design and much needed places for local families to live.
“These homes are all under offer, but please look out for more Rent to Buy options from us in the future.”
Saving for a deposit
All eight homes have been made exclusively for Rent to Buy, which means that, for the first five years, tenants pay less than market rent.
The aim of the national initiative is to help tenants save for a deposit for a house.
Ryan Payne, who moved into one of the homes with his family, said: “We rented before and without this option of paying less to save up a deposit, we would have definitely struggled to buy.
“This house is not only bigger, in a nicer area and perfect for our little family, but it gives us the option of actually getting on the property ladder, which is what we’ve always wanted.
“It’s just perfect for us and we can’t wait to get settled in.”
Ongo and Homes England funded the new homes, while MFM Developments Ltd took charge of the construction.
The second and final phase of the site is due for completion in November this year, where the final eight homes will be handed over.
