Optivo is set to deliver 53 new homes after purchasing land in the market village of Lenham.
The development will include a mixture of one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom homes at Loder Close, with construction due to start in May this year.
The £14.2m development, near Maidstone, Kent, will be constructed by Penenden Heath Developments Limited and will include a mixture of affordable rent and shared ownership homes.
Richard White, director of Land and New Business at Optivo, said: “We’re looking forward to delivering these much-needed homes to Lenham.
“We know this wonderful village is steeped in history, and we’ve worked hard to create a development which will be sympathetic to the surrounding area.
“At Optivo, we’ve a proud history of developing places with people, not profit, in mind. We remain ambitious and will continue to do our bit to tackle the housing crisis.”
Lenham has a population of around 4,000 people and its train station links directly to London Victoria.
The site is 1.97ha and is surrounded by open fields on part of its boundary.
Five of the homes are being delivered in conjunction with the Rural Housing Trust.
The new homes will benefit from a public open space, with tree planting and a strong emphasis on hedgerows.
The landscaping masterplan provides biodiversity enhancements, including bird boxes across the site. It will also feature a pond and a children’s play area.
Work is due to complete in Spring 2023.
Optivo is one of the UK’s largest housing associations with 45,000 homes in London, the south east of England, and the Midlands.
