Platform Housing Group has launched an initiative to encourage customers and partners to champion diversity in their local communities.
The social landlord has created Diversity Champion roles throughout its operating area, the aim of which is to help develop projects and campaigns around diversity.
Tom Piotrowski, Diversity and Inclusion advisor at Platform Housing Group, explained: “As a social landlord we are committed to making equality, diversity, and inclusion key priorities.
“In order to make our commitment active and genuinely inspiring, we need our customers and partner organisations to help us get there.
“We hope that they will also help us realise our zero-tolerance approach to harassment, bullying, victimisation, and discrimination.”
Platform is looking for both volunteers to develop projects and campaigns that highlight the diversity of its communities, as well as partner organisations to deliver projects that celebrate diversity and benefit customers.
Those interested will be asked to choose an area of interest linked to the organisation’s equality charter, including religion and belief and disability.
Additionally, volunteers can choose other aspects of exclusion or inequality such as social isolation, health inequalities, and access barriers.

The social landlord has also set up a funding stream for individual projects of up to £400 each.
Piotrowski concluded: “We’d love to hear from those customers and partners who want to make a difference in their communities by highlighting diversity and helping to break down barriers.
“This is especially important as we continue to grapple with the impact of COVID-19. It has never been more important to reach out to our vulnerable customers and communities.”
Platform Housing Group operates across Herefordshire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire and the Cotswolds.
The initiative will be officially launched at an online event on 26 January at 1.00pm.
