An initiative which aims to provide a snapshot of people’s experiences during the pandemic has been launched by Platform Housing Group.
The digital time capsule received submissions such as images, poems, and films from across the country, including Derbyshire, Leicestershire, and Worcestershire.
Platform is now encouraging people to visit the project, which ran from November 2020 till March 2021.
The memories will be visible online for one month starting on Wednesday 21 April; on 21 May, the page will be ‘buried’ and then uncovered again on 21 May 2024.
Tim Marsh, digital transformation officer at Platform Housing Group said: “The year 2020 will go down in history as one of the most difficult years many of us have lived through.
“We therefore decided to take a snapshot of the year, recording the experiences of Platform customers, local schools, board members, and our own colleagues in the form of photos, poems, art, letters, and films in an online digital time capsule; which will be buried for three years and then dug up in 2024.”
Marsh concluded: “Our Communities team is all about engaging with our customers; with the onset of COVID-19 we couldn’t do this in the normal way.
“Encouraging people to create their own memories of this time has been deeply moving. It has also been fascinating to see how talented and imaginative our customers and colleagues have been.
“Our hope now is that, when we reveal the digital time capsule in 2024, the world will be a very different one.”
