Sovereign Housing Association has opened up 40 paid work placements available through its Kickstart job placement scheme.
The roles are open to anyone aged 16-24 currently on Universal Credit, and they don’t have to be a Sovereign resident.
Sovereign is part of the Kickstart Housing Partnership led by Clarion Housing Group.
The government-backed Kickstart scheme was launched in 2020 in response to the impact COVID-19 has had on youth employment opportunities.
Heidi Leyshon, Employment and Training manager for Sovereign, said: “Kickstart placements offer great work experience and could be the pathway to an exciting new career.
“Each placement is for 25 hours per week, lasts for six months and pays minimum wage, though the amount varies depending on the age of the participant.
“You’ll receive on-the-job training, mentoring, and come out with a qualification at the end of your time with us.
“We’re not looking for stacks of experience in applicants, we’re looking for a can do attitude and willingness to learn.”
Sovereign is offering a variety of roles across the south and south west of England, with more positions to come later in the year.
The roles currently available are:
- Audit and Risk Team Administrator
- Digital Marketing and Communication Assistant (Home Ownership)
- Employment and Training Admin Assistant
- Housing Data Admin Assistant
- Housing for Older Person Concierge Assistant
- Housing Response Service Admin Assistant
- Management Information and Programme Administrator
- Money and Digital Admin Assistant
- Policy, Strategy and Performance Administrator
- Property Support Admin
Young people that fit the eligibility criteria can apply via their work coach at their local job centre.
Sovereign says most roles will not be in an office to begin with, due to ongoing pandemic restrictions; but that equipment – including a laptop – will be provided to each participant so that they can get set up from home.
The closing date is 19 April.
Sovereign manages nearly 60,000 homes and aims to build around 1,900 new homes every year.
