Registered providers Plus Dane Housing and Stockport Homes in partnership with Stockport Council have joined JV North ahead of Homes England’s forthcoming 2021/26 Affordable Homes Programme.
The new appointments take the number of full board members in the consortium to 11.
JV North’s other members are Bury Council, Community Gateway Association, Jigsaw, One Manchester, Sovini, Torus, Trafford Housing Trust, Weaver Vale Housing Trust, and Wythenshawe Community Housing Group.
Plus Dane Housing, which has over 13,500 homes across Merseyside and Cheshire, aims to build up to 1,500 homes over the next five years.
Ian Reed, chief executive at Plus Dane Housing, said: “Joining JV North is part of our plan to develop strong strategic partnerships that will increase our capability and capacity to build more homes in the places they are needed most.
“Our corporate plan includes an objective to build up to 300 homes annually for the next five years.
“Being part of JV North will help us achieve this goal by providing additional support to our development team.”
The second member to join in this new round of partnerships is Stockport Homes, which manages 11,500 properties on behalf of Stockport Council and has a homebuilding programme of 1,000 homes to be delivered by 2025.
Its chief executive, Helen McHale, said: “JV North has an impressive, proven track record of providing great benefits to housebuilding organisations like ours.
“Partnership working is more important than ever in the current climate, and we are looking forward to teaming up with members of the consortium and the programme management team at Saffer Cooper Consultancy to help us meet housing needs in our communities.”
Wayne Gales, JV North chair and chief executive of Weaver Vale Housing Trust, said: “The challenges of recent years, especially those of 2020, have shown us collaboration is key to producing the right outcomes when addressing the housing crisis.
“With this in mind, we very much welcome the two new members so that we can further extend views, ideas, skills, intelligence, and experience throughout JV North ahead of the new homebuilding programme starting in April.”
Since forming in 2007, the consortium has built the equivalent of two-and-a-half homes every working day.
Over 4,550 properties are being constructed in the current 2016/21 Shared Ownership Affordable Homes Programme – owing to an investment of over half-a-billion pounds between members and Homes England.
