Digital skills training provider We Are Digital has won a contract with the South East Local Enterprise Partnership (SELEP) to help 2,000 residents across East Sussex, Essex, Kent, Medway, Southend and Thurrock find new roles online.
Housing associations, local authorities, charities and banks will have the opportunity to refer potential participants to the programme. Equipment and data will be gifted where required.
The training is part of SELEP’s plans to drive economic growth across the south-east as the UK recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Approximately 35% of the south-east is either completely offline or has limited internet access (Ofcom, 2021).
SELEP chair, Christian Brodie, added: “We are pleased to be working with We Are Digital to deliver this training across the south-east as part of our efforts to boost employment in the region.
“By working with We Are Digital we are confident of reaching the right people and places in the south-east.
“Our funds are targeted at the areas and residents that truly need this additional support the most, helping us stay on top of high growth levels that are being experienced in some sectors, especially digital.”
We Are Digital is a VC-backed social impact business that has helped thousands of people access essential online services and manage their debts during the pandemic through its training work with housing associations, local authorities, banks and corporates.
