whg has scooped a national award for the positive impact it makes in the community. The Midlands’ landlord picked up the Voluntary or Third Sector Leadership Award at the Social Value Awards 2021, which were held virtually on 24 February.
whg runs a multitude of community investment activities each year and in 2019/2020 generated £38 million of social value. This included £22.4 million through its employment and training, financial and digital inclusion and health and wellbeing initiatives.
Projects included a training scheme to encourage more women to enter the construction industry, healthy lifestyle sessions in schools and digital and financial skills workshops.

Currently housing over 50,000 people in around 21,000 properties, whg now has a presence in 18 local authority areas across the Midlands. whg’s increasingly diverse portfolio has given it a presence in the market rent, commercial markets, including shared ownership and supported housing.
