MP for Hexham Guy Opperman and Northumberland County councillor for Prudhoe South Cllr Gordon Stewart paid a visit to the Karbon Homes development at The Haven last week to see how work is progressing.
The project will bring six, two-bed, ‘spacious and modern’ bungalows to the area, all of which will be available for affordable rent.
Guy Opperman MP said: “This small development in the town centre will be built to a high standard, with energy efficiency being a major design feature, I look forward to seeing these houses when they are completed, and local people making them their home.”
Cllr Gordon Stewart, who is also deputy cabinet member for Community Services, added: “I’m delighted to see work is under way on the new bungalows at The Haven.
“Substantial investment in bringing modern accommodation to the town centre is a crucial element of our vision for the future of Prudhoe and I’m sure these new homes will be very popular with local people.”
The ten, one-bedroom bungalows previously located on the site were demolished earlier this year.
Building new bungalows that meet both current and changing needs of residents will help improve the housing available for older people in the town.
Zoey Hawthorne, assistant director of Development Delivery for Karbon Homes, said: “It’s fantastic to see work progressing at The Haven.
“Providing good quality, modern homes that are a great fit for customers, both now and in the future, is one of Karbon’s key priorities and it’s great to see our investment in this regeneration project receive such strong backing from the local community.”
The new bungalows are due to be completed in Spring 2023.
