Your Housing Group (YHG) is celebrating its tenth anniversary, having formed in April 2012 following a merger between Harvest Housing Group and Arena Housing Group.
The last decade has seen YHG develop “an unwavering commitment to its vision of creating more places for people to thrive” and become recognised as a “sector-leading landlord”.
Brian Cronin has been chief executive of Your Housing Group since 2012, leading the formation of the group, the merger transition, and its continued growth.
He said: “10 years is quite a milestone, and it has given us an opportunity to reflect on how far we have come and how much we have achieved.
“The last 10 years has not been without its challenges, especially over the past two years, but time and time again our people have responded in a way that has always put our residents and their safety at the forefront.”
“One of the things I am most proud of, is that as an organisation we’re bold and brave, and we try new things.
“And innovation is a quality that we will continue to build on with projects such as our partnership with Changing Streams and Liverpool University to deliver net zero carbon homes.
“I would like to extend a big thank you to everyone who has played a role in the first 10 years of Your Housing Group.”
YHG has 29,000 homes across the north-west-of-England region, with a “broad and diverse” portfolio.
To support the most vulnerable people in its communities, since 2012 YHG’s supported housing team has:
- Housed 1,460 families in its homeless lodges
- Helped 706 women fleeing domestic abuse in its refuges
- Supported 1,388 young people across its four foyers
- Assisted 4,000 families through its Vulnerable Tenant Support Scheme (VTSS)
People, safety, and community have all been central to the group’s foundation over the past 10 years.
TPAS accreditation, a focus on equality, diversity and inclusion, and its innovative Customer Connect service delivery model, have all underpinned YHG’s commitment to listening to the experts – its customers.
Since 2012 the customer service team has managed over 1.5m calls, 24k webchats, and 750k customer emails.
And engaged with over 1,000 customers in various customer groups and resident meetings, listening and learning from the people who best understand the needs of residents and their communities.
In its communities, YHG has:
- Invested £15m on various community projects and initiatives
- Generated over £133m in social value
- Set up various training and employment initiatives, helping 881 people into employment, 782 people into regular volunteering, and provided 3,552 people with general training including CV building and interview techniques
In addition, YHG has helped almost 1,000 people get on the property ladder via shared ownership and delivered a £225m community-focussed regeneration scheme to transform Anfield in Liverpool.
Currently, YHG is delivering an ambitious £269m home improvements programme over the next five years and has committed to building 1,000 new homes each year to play its role in tackling the UK’s housing crisis.
As an employer, YHG says it has strived to create a culture where people can “thrive, learn, and develop”.
The group introduced agile and hybrid working prior to the pandemic, and has now adopted a home working model, along with a new social and wellbeing space – Youggle House – in Warrington.
Jacque Allen, deputy chief executive of Your Housing Group, said: “The statistics allow us to quantify what we have delivered over the past 10 years, and it is incredible, but what it doesn’t show is the pride, passion and creativity at the heart of our team, who have delivered this incredible work.
“Well done to everyone, we are incredibly proud of everything we have achieved, and we are excited about what the future holds for Your Housing Group.”
