Basildon Council is implementing Plentific’s property operations platform with the partnership enabling real-time repairs visibility for the council.
The move represents faster, more transparent repairs for residents, and enhanced social value delivered through local supply chains.
Basildon Council’s decision reflects a shift across the UK housing sector: landlords taking direct ownership of their repairs data, compliance evidence and resident experience.
Through Plentific’s Open Framework, Basildon Council also gains compliant access to a vetted supply chain of local SME contractors, supporting the Council’s community wealth building commitments and keeping repairs spend in the local economy.
Councillor Phil Turner, cabinet member for housing at Basildon Council, said: “This partnership marks an important step forward in our commitment to deliver a more responsive, transparent and tenant-focused housing repairs service. By improving real-time visibility of repairs, strengthening compliance oversight and supporting local contractors, we are putting the right foundations in place to provide the reliable service our residents expect and deserve.”
Deborah Fenton, executive director of homes, communities and environment at Basildon Council, added: “We have been clear with our tenants that we are making fundamental changes to how our housing services are run. Central to that is the Council owning its own data, its compliance evidence and the resident experience, so we can see performance in real-time and demonstrate improvement rather than assert it.
“Plentific gives us that operational backbone ahead of Awaab’s Law Phase 2, and the Open Framework means more of our repairs spend will go to vetted local trades businesses, keeping investment in the borough. This is a significant step in delivering the improvement our tenants deserve.”
Henrik von Bahr, VP of strategic accounts at Plentific, said: “Basildon Council has been decisive about putting tenants at the centre of its housing services, and it’s a privilege to partner with them to enable real-time data visibility and a better customer experience. We’re proud to be supporting their improvement journey, and just as excited about facilitating their work with local SMEs through the Open Framework, so the businesses of Basildon can deliver quality work for their own community.”
Basildon Borough Council joins 100+ housing providers partnered with Plentific, including local authorities such as Southwark, Lambeth and Lewisham.
