A housing provider is continuing to invest in digital upgrades to its independent living schemes to ensure residents can stay connect to family and friends.
In its drive for digital inclusion, Fairhive Homes has partnered with KingComs to install wifi at two of its schemes in Buckinghamshire. The initiative is aimed at empowering residents to stay “connected and confident” in the digital world, the organisation says.
KingComs’ engineers installed high-quality internet Digital Signage Screens and Interactive Digital Kiosks, for those without internet devices, across Fairhive’s Thistle Court and Woodlands schemes. The company’s team was also on site to provide hands on support, helping residents get their devices connected as well as answer a range of digital queries.
Abbie Whitmee, Fairhive’s independent living team manager, said “We are absolutely thrilled with the success of this initial launch, bringing essential digital connectivity and support directly to our residents.
“Seeing the immediate positive impact on their ability to connect and engage online has been truly rewarding. Our partnership with KingComs has been instrumental in achieving this and we look forward to expanding this vital connectivity across other schemes.”
Reliable internet access has become essential for completing daily tasks such as booking appointments, conducting banking transactions, and maintaining communication with loved ones. In its new 2025-2030 strategy, Fairhive has reaffirmed its pledge to provide quality services aligned with residents’ needs, and the organisation is actively working toward achieving this goal.
According to Fairhive, its partnership with KingsComs highlights the “positive impact of collaboration” between housing providers and technology experts in tackling digital inequality.
Cully Cullen, managing direct at KingComs, said: “This project means a lot to us at KingComs. Seeing residents smile when they connect with family or explore something new online for the first time is exactly why we do what we do.
“We believe everyone should feel included in the digital world, and it has been a real privilege to work with Fairhive to bring these solutions to Thistle Court and Woodlands. It is not just about throwing in new technology; it is about people and giving them the confidence and support required that will hopefully make life that little bit easier.”
