Cardo Group has launched a training partnership with The Retrofit Academy (TRA) to strengthen green skills across its workforce and supply chain.
The two organisations will combine TRA’s retrofit training and workforce development expertise with Cardo’s training facilities and industry experience, widening access to green skills training for colleagues, residents and clients.
The first stage will focus on funded training opportunities for Cardo’s staff, with some funded places also open to clients. TRA and Cardo will jointly develop training that builds on Cardo’s existing retrofit expertise.
A hybrid programme will follow, delivered face-to-face at Cardo’s training centre in Bristol and open to residents and clients. It will cover large-scale retrofit, domestic retrofit, and training tailored to Cardo’s own policies and working practices.
TRA and Cardo said competence in the sector extends beyond a completed mandatory qualification, requiring continuous learning and the ability to demonstrate the right knowledge, skills, experience and behaviours.
David Pierpoint, chief executive at The Retrofit Academy, said: “Cardo has made a significant investment in its training facilities and its people. This partnership gives us an exciting opportunity to build on those foundations and develop a highly competent workforce equipped for the changing demands of retrofit.
“At The Retrofit Academy, we are proud to be the champions of competence. This partnership is about more than delivering qualifications or meeting mandatory requirements. It is about creating a genuine culture of lifelong learning, raising competence across the workforce and supply chain, and providing people with clear pathways into rewarding and sustainable careers.
“By combining Cardo’s facilities and industry expertise with TRA’s specialist knowledge, training infrastructure and quality-assurance capabilities, we can create something that delivers lasting value for Cardo, its workforce and the wider region.”
The partnership supports Cardo’s ambition to build a culture of continuous professional development across its colleagues and wider supply chain.
Gareth Lloydwin, executive director at Cardo Group, said: “Delivering high-quality retrofit programmes and better outcomes for our customers and communities starts with making sure our colleagues have the right skills and knowledge to deliver work safely and to a high standard.
“Our partnership with The Retrofit Academy will help us strengthen this capability across our workforce and supply chain, with increased access to their specialist knowledge, clear development pathways, and practical learning that they can apply in their day-to-day roles.
“We’re excited to use our new training facility in Bristol to support this practical, accessible learning and provide more opportunities to continue developing the skills needed to meet the changing demands of the sector.”
