Hayley Selway has been named as Two Rivers Housing’s new chief executive; she takes up the post in December.
She’ll join the organisation from Cardiff Community Housing Association (CCHA), where she has served as chief executive since early 2019. She’ll leave that organisation in October.
Before heading up CCHA, Selway was executive director for people and places at Taff Housing Association, where she led its strategies for tenant services and organisational development, as well as its new homes programme, and health and safety.
She also managed and developed a growth strategy for its internal repairs team.
Selway has also held senior roles at Tal Calon Community Housing, where she was assistant director of housing and communities; Vale of Glamorgan County Borough Council; and Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council.
Throughout her career, Selway has focused on areas that deliver service improvements, build strong, customer-focussed cultures, and deliver “meaningful” tenant engagement.
Yvonne Leishman, Two Rivers‘ group chair, said the Gloucester-based organisation is “delighted” with the appointment.
“She is passionate about social housing at a local level and has a track record for creating strong, customer-focused organisations,” she added.
“It was important that we found the right person to take our organisation forward, building on the solid foundations we already have in place and driving us onward as we start the next chapter of our history.
“I am confident that through Hayley’s leadership, Two Rivers Housing will thrive and continue to ensure that families in our communities have warm, safe, affordable homes for many years to come.”
Selway said she is “absolutely thrilled” to be joining the organisation.
She added: “The association has a fantastic reputation, under the leadership of Garry King, for delivering great services and building affordable homes throughout the Forest of Dean and the wider Gloucestershire area.
“I will start my Two Rivers Housing journey towards the end of the year and am excited to build on the impressive legacy established by Garry and the team.”
King steps down as the group’s chief executive at the beginning of next year, having held the position for more than 20 years.
Paying tribute to their own departing chief, Mike Owen, chair of CCHA’s board said: “It is always sad when a great member of our team leaves us, but it is also real pleasure when people get new jobs and new opportunities.
“Hayley’s contributions to CCHA have been immeasurable. She has led the organisation through a period of significant change. She has been instrumental in improving our financial performance, governance, and culture.
“Thanks to Hayley we now feel that we are the housing association that our tenants want us to be, doing things right, supporting our communities and reflecting the diverse communities we work in. Her vision and unwavering commitment have set the stage for a brighter future, and we are deeply grateful for the legacy that she leaves behind.”
