Floors are a challenge but also an opportunity for retrofit carbon savings. Independent studies have shown that suspended timber floors are responsible for as much as 1/4 of the total heat loss and 40% of the draughts. More than 8 million homes in the UK have suspended timber floors - these homes tend to have low EPC scores, high prevalence of fuel poverty and few practical or cost-effective options to upgrade them. The talk will highlight how to overcome the technical challenges of insulating homes, and how robotic technology can be used on suspended floors to achieve better energy efficiency standards.
